Medium Size SCH-Positive stories?

Anonymous
I'm 7 weeks 4 days pregnant from a FET and I'm dealing with a SCH. My understanding is it is medium size. Yesterday it caused massive bleeding and I was convinced things were over. This morning there was still a healthy heartbeat, but the SCH is growing rapidly (over the course of 24 hours it doubled). The doctors don't know why and have no idea if it will shrink or grow (but at the moment it is growing even after a big bleed). My nurse at SG said it is wait and see and I was doing ok until my doc who NEVER calls, called me and said he is concerned, but it is just a waiting game. I rationally understand there isn't anything that I can do, but I am having a hard time emotionally reconciling a PGS tested embryo that is now a healthy looking fetus and a possible impending m/c because of the SCH (I guess another example that my body is betrying me?).

Any good outcome stories out there? Was there anything you did that you think helped the outcome? The big bleed has passed, but I'm terrified of moving too much. I just want to lay in bed and not move (but I know that is not medically indicated and I also have a ft job).

I don't have a story, but I'm sorry you are going through this. I hope your SCH stabilizes and then starts decreasing again. Sending good, happy, restful thoughts your way!

Hi OP. I don't think you should take the lack of responses as an indication that there aren't positive stories. I definitely have friends who've had them and everything worked out fine. I found out today (after dramatic bleeding and cramping) that I have a very large one. But at the same ultrasound, I also saw the heartbeat for the first time. I was so excited that I hadn't miscarried that I didn't really ask anything about the hematoma. I remember my doctor saying no sex and we'd recheck soon, but I didn't register any alarm or concern from him. I didn't think he was that worried about it, but I'm not sure. I'm sorry I don't have more information for you. I know the uncertainty is really hard. Good luck!

I had a huge one. Blood gushing down my legs. Dr called it "extra large". It did finally resolve by ~20w.

Don't worry if you see brown blood - that's all old. The red blood is new.

Best wishes, OP!

Hi OP. I don't think mine was considered huge, but it was there and I had some bleeding and mostly spotting from weeks 6-13. I was told not to exercise and to take it easy. Around week 13 my spotting finally stopped and they could no longer find it on the ultrasound. I am now almost 20 weeks, and things look great. Good luck and I hope everything resolves quickly!

Hi, OP. I had one too. Scared the bejeezus out of me, but ended up resolving itself and I went on to have a healthy pregnancy/baby. Can't recall any restrictions other than pelvic rest (i.e., no sex) for a while. Good luck!!

Does anyone know if you can keep taking baby aspirin (if that's part of your protocol) if you have a hematoma?

I had one that lasted from 11 weeks to 17 weeks with a PGS-normal embryo. I had a fairly massive bleed at 11 weeks (gushing that went through all my clothes) and then a slow trickle and then eventually old brown blood that lasted for WEEKS. It sucked.

My now 2.5 year old is happy and healthy.

Good luck OP.

Do you have a known clotting disorder? If not, I would probably stop but check with your RE/nurse.

I had an SCH and it resolved on its own and he is 2 years old now. Mine wasn't huge or growing though... I can't say I know enough to advise about that aspect but I wish all the best and hope it resolves for you!

I had a large one with lots of blood. I was terrified and sure it was over. My son is now 2. It's amazing to me anytime I think of it. Good luck!

I had two episodes of gushing bright red blood at 9 weeks and 12 weeks. It resolved on its own and my DS will be 4 this summer. I read somewhere online that SCH is very common for some reason to IVF patients.

OP here- thank you for all the comments. I have another appointment Tuesday to check things out. I've had several more bad episodes. I'm currently gushing blood due to one tiny sneeze. Seriously- I sneezed once and there was blood everywhere (sorry tmi). My nerves are officially shot :/.

OP again. SCH is now very big and doctors have no answers other than they are concerned. Fetus looks 100% fine which is breaking my heart. I'll probably move to another board (Expectant Moms I guess) in case my postings upset anyone here.

Lot's of luck to everyone here!
