I'm trying to understand my cycle and why I'm dealing with infertility. I've been TTC for 12 months, age 38.
My FSH is normal (7). However, my cycles have been on the shorter side for a few years, with average cycle length 25 days (used to be 29) and my ovulation occurs on the early side (day 10). However, I have normal FSH. Wouldn't FSH be expected to be higher if I am seeing shorter cycles and early ovulation? I've been diagnosed with decreased ovarian reserve. I was successfully pregnant 3 years ago and gave birth to a healthy baby but have not been able to get pregnant again. All my other hormones are at a good level. |

I don't think FSH has any relationship to cycle length.
Have you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility? It is really fascinating. |
| Dont really have an answer for you but acupuncture can lengthen your cycles. I had only 1 session (not in the do area) and my cycle was 1 day longer...even though I never expressed that as a goal to my practitioner. |
| My cycles have been 24-25 days more often than not with ovulation around CD 10/11. They used to be 32 days apart when I was younger. FSH is around 6-7 but my AMH is in the pits. I also have very poor egg quality on our IVF attempts. I did read somewhere that short cycles is related to poor egg quality- in my case that's true but not sure if that's true for everyone. |

i used to have that around ages 32-42. cycles shortened to 23-24 days. fsh was normal. had a child easily at 38, then struggled but at 41 prevailed and had another child. my amh was around .7 at 39 then dropped gradually. i had a low yield of eggs and 3 failed ivfs.
i am now 43 and my cycles are now longer, around 28. |
