At what age did you discuss puberty and development with your child?

I've read that it should be done by eight years old. Our child is a few months from nine and I feel like we need to address it soon before he starts hearing it first from friends. Any books that you can recommend for sharing with child?

I just did with my 6 year old twins. They also know how babies are made...but not about how the sperm actually gets to the egg. Waiting for a direct question on that one.

My kids are still young but I just say things like how your body changes as you get to be a teenager...you grow more hair all over your body, especially around your groin area, and your body starts stinking so you need to wear deodorant, you may get pimples, etc. I don't do big talks bc it's awkward I just weave it into conversions when we're driving or cooking or whenever. The earlier, the better. I think kids get so embarrassed when they are older.
