Did it help? Are they able to do anything for pain control so that it doesn't hurt?
Yes, I had one. I did get pregnant, though I don't know if it was a result of the endo scratch. Just take ibuprofen an hour before the scratch. It pinches and is uncomfortable. I would not describe it was painful.
Interesting. I'm OP. I've read things about a scratch being the most painful 15 seconds of people's lives. Maybe it's like HSG and hurts for some people but not others. I'd rather not risk it, if there's some way for them to make it pain free! I'm not even sure what to ask for though.
I had one (only successful cycle) and felt very little pain-- almost nothing. And I am super super sensitive. I almost passed out at an HSG because of the pain and I dread speculums because they hurt so much. Nothing to fear here!
I had it twice. Well I had uterine biopsies so same idea. The first time was more painful than the second (same provider) but even that wasn't too bad because it only lasts a few seconds and there was no cramping or pain afterwards. Definitely not the most painful thing I've had done!! Had successful pregnancies right after each. All other 7 pregnancies were miscarriages. So I think it was worth it. I doubt the success was a coincidence.
Thank you PPs. Also, reading your notes about successful pregnancies after miscarriages and failed implantations makes me wish I knew some of you in real life and could compliment you on your bravery and determination. Makes me realize I can keep going after losses. Thanks for responding.
I also had one before my only successful cycle. I thought it was pretty painful, but it's a quick procedure, and at the end of the day I got pregnant the cycle after it so would definitely recommend it. I researched, and couldn't really find any risks, other than the actual discomfort of the procedure.

I had one too, and it did hurt. Boy did it hurt, but like the other posters said, it was brief. Got pregnant that cycle, it seems to be the magic push that so many of us need.
You can do it, just take the motrin before the procedure and know that you may be increasing the chances for a BFP! |
I had one before my only successful cycle as well....my RE did it the day I started my progesterone. I don't remember it hurting for more than a few seconds. Since I was on an immunological protocol, I was a little surprised my RE did it, but she was doing a kitchen sink type approach I guess. The two embies stuck and I have 9 month old twins now! Best wishes OP!
I did it for my last FET. It was painful, but not nearly as bad as the HSG. Transfer was a BFN. I believe the scratch led to a CP, whereas my previous transfers were more straightforward failures. But that's just my theory.
Just had 2 endometrial biopsies for my current FET cycle. The HSG caused me little discomfort. The first biopsy did cause me discomfort for about 30 seconds and then period like cramping after for about an hour. On a scale of 1 to 10 it was about a 3. The second one wasn't even a 1 on the pain scale. I will see if I have any luck. We are doing the kitchen sink protocol too this cycle.
My wife had one on her only successful cycle.
When does it happen in the cycle?
For the cycle I did it, I did one 39 days before transfer and one 25 days before transfer. |
Sorry, PP, but do you mean you did two in the same cycle, or these were two separate cycles? Thanks. |
