Preschool teacher openings

| Am a qualified teacher(I promise!) looking to start teaching at a preschool next year but no one seems to post openings online anywhere I can find... wondering if anyone has heard of teachers leaving/new openings so I can target my search. Thanks! |

| What are your qualifications? If you obtained your degree in the area, then you should be able to go to your school and find listings there. As a qualified teacher, why are you posting here? Do you not have professional contacts or professional membership associations that would have job opening lists? |

| I knew someone would attack my posting. I have a BA in Early Childhood and a second in Music Theatre with over 8 years experience teaching early childhood music and arts. I know the area and know that positions often don't get posted-they try to fill from people who have an association with the school. It's DC getting a teaching job at a "top-notch" preschool is as competitive/political as a getting a child into one. |

Yorktown Preschool is accepting applications for a preschool teacher for the
2009/2010 school year. This part-time hourly position would involve teaching a morning preschool class of 8-10 children, as well as supervising high school student assistants, at Yorktown High School. A background in Early Childhood Development or experience teaching preschool is required. Yorktown Preschool is also accepting applications for girls who will be 3 or 4 years old for the 2009/2010 school year (our quota for boys is already filled!). Don't know if there are any openings but several of the teachers at my daughter's preschool (Trinity Presbyterian in Arlington) were announced to be leaving at the end of the school year. It's possible the positions have been filled but still might be worth looking into.

Georgetown Hill Early School tends to have job openings...but they tend not to advertise (they are too cheap for that)
They have several campuses in MD and one in DC...which is convenient depending on where you live. It's not the best place to work, but it's ok for a year or two while you look for something better. I worked at the Bells Mill and NRC location. I found a better job for the fall but overall working there was alright as long as you know how to stick up for yourself. |
