Brazilian wax

Does anyone aside from me think that this is really creepy? Why would a woman want to look like a pre-pubescent girl? I think it's a really sexist notion of "beauty."

I'm not a man, but I think for most men, it's not about looking like a pre-pubescent girl, it's about looking like a porn star.

And porn stars, in some ways, cultivate the young girl look, so it is about looking like pre-pubescent girls.

I think it's a generational thing, for both men and women (those under, say, 35, seem a lot more interested in it).

I am a woman and I love Brazilians because I find them sexy and because sex is much better for me. It's got nothing to do w/ looking like a pre-pubescent girl. It's really about good sex.

Gee, in what way is sex better when you have a Brazilian wax? I'm trying to picture the improvement and it's puzzling to me. Can you, um, elaborate, please?

I would dread the in-grown hairs. Ugh. Plus, my husband has pointed out to me he was not looking to hook up with a pre-pubescent girl when he pursued me. I can imagine one or two times to 'switch things up'--but not the level of commitment and devotion some people bring to this.

And yes, there is a weird beauty standard that mirrors the pre-pubescent girl with certain enhanced features created by the porn star blow up doll look that I think is a sexual 'trigger'. I don't find it sexy, but it is the posterchild of 'sexy' and so easy to fall back on--the arched razor thin eye brows, poofy lip-linered lips, bikini wax, fake boobs. Regardless of what material you are working with, if you do those things it says 'sex' and will turn a certain group of men's heads (and women's--I find it fascinating and repulsive at the same time.)

not the pp-but it makes sex feel better because there is more skin to skin contact.

I'm with OP, and I'm also a little creeped out by chest waxing in men. Both practices strip away (ouch) secondary sex characteristics that are supposed to indicate sexual maturity.

Here's the thing - I have tried shaving myself completely down there, one sumer. It grows back stubbly and itchy and is a pain in the neck and scary to do....ouch, if you slip up!
I have never had a FULL Brazilian wax - but waxed almost all while keeping the basic "bush" in place - just very small and very clean in back. I like that. I like the feel of the hair sort of protecting my genitals! It's like a little protective padding.
But, all that said, the problem with waxing is that you need to go every few weeks - it's not cheap, it's time consuming and you have to let the hair grow a little in order to wax....therefore you have at least a week or so where you have stubble. Stubble from shaving is much rougher and more likely to give you ingrowns. If you wax (any part of your body) the hair comes in finer and if you do it regularly with a professional you should not have ingrowns. Anyway, it's still a pain in the neck - no matter how you do it! But I like being as clean as possible down there with just a little up front......so I still look natural.

I am naturally a hairy ape and like Brazilians b/c it feels so...free. Don't do it all the time b./c of $$$.

i'm under 35 so take that into consideration I guess, but:

1. It just feels cleaner and cooler, esp in the summer.

2. Even with a bikini wax, you can still end up with hair sticking out of your swim suit and that's just gross.

3. Sex is better, even with a "landing strip" at the top because there is nothing shielding your bits. The right waxer knows what can go/stay to make this point.

4. My hubby prefers brazilians for oral, and i'll do anything to keep him interested in doing that! Its not a prepubescent thing. He just doesn't want to feel like he's flossing at the same time.

5. A bikini wax already hurts, and leaving a landing strip means the brazilian doesn't hurt any more than a regular bikini wax, so why not? (if you go totally bare, the part that hurts the MOST is taking that last bit right across your pubic bone - yowzers!)

Any of you over 40 doing this?

I am 32 and think it just looks so much sexier to have a landing strip then to have a big full bush that is out of control. It does drive dh crazy as well. Also, feels cleaner and makes me not worry in a bathing suit that my hairs are hanging out.

9:30: you've just been culturally conditioned to think this. Please reconsider. It's just astonishing what we women do to conform to whatever "feminine" ideal is out there. How many men would be willing to have every pubic hair ripped out for the sake of appearance?
