Pk3 at Sela

Anonymous
We are considering pk3 for 2016-2017, and would love to connect with parents who did pk3 in 15-16 to hear more about it.

I'm happy to answer any of your questions. Our child is in Prek3 at Sela this year.

I would be so interested in hearing about your experience there. Is there a way to message you directly and perhaps talk briefly on the phone?

I'm not too familiar with this forum, so I don't know if there is a way to login or talk directly. We're considering pk3 for next year, and.I am hoping to talk to some parents and hear strengths and challenges.

Hmmm, not sure how to message someone without putting my contact info out there. Any thoughts?

just make up an email address for this purpose and post it here.

You can also create a DCUM account, log in, and post - and then there is a "private message" option where someone can contact you but not know what your email address is (until you reply).

Original poster here. I managed to connect with a few pk3 parents(through the school's recommendation and through friends of friends), so we're set for now, in.terms of talking to other parents, but thank you for offering. We visited today, and saw so much that we liked. The environment is warm and friendly. We don't get to spend very.much time with the head of school, but she made a point of greeting us, answering questions, and inviting us back again. I got the impression she's very accessible. The teachers seemed engaging, and I was impressed with how much Hebrew even the youngest students knew. I.also liked that it was a relatively small school. The commute may be too far for us, but if we lived closer...I think this school is a gem.

How large will the school be next year?

Is someone taking over the Shining Stars sublease?

No info on that yet.

Lol at the "This School is a Gem". Maybe if you're desperate for a placement and/or only looking for pk3-pk4. After that it's most certainly not a true Gem...more like paste.

Hey, asshole...is your kid actually a student at the school? Sela is everything the OP found it to be. It is incredibly warm and engaged and the teachers have been wonderful. There are 2 pk3 classes this year and most of our child's cohort will be returning in the Fall. We, and the parents of our kid's friends, just love it.

Yes in fact my child is a student at Sela. However in a grade higher than PK. Come back to tell me about how much of a Gem Sela is once your child is passed the age of 5. Trust me when I tell you that academically your child will be far behind where they should be if you choose to stay pass K. I regret falling for the promises and wish I had removed my child earlier. Luckily this year the lottery was kind to us and we will not be back. I just want to inform those who may listen only to the parents of PK students about how great the school is without realizing that the upper grades are not up to par.

Not to mention how sparsely populated the upper grades are as well.
