I had a phone interview in April, and a second phone interview two weeks ago. Both seemed to go well. At the end of the second interview, when I inquired about next steps, the interviewer said that interviewer one was in charge of next steps and would be in touch. I immediately sent thank you emails, and one week after the second interview, followed up with the first interviewer to ask about their anticipated timeline/next steps. It's been two weeks since the second interview and one week since my follow up email and I've heard nothing. I know that in theory, there are countless possible explanations for the lack of communication but I'm mentally preparing for a let down. If I had a chance I would have heard something by now, right?
Some companies take a very long time. Still with that said, you should have moved on after the first contact. Keep searching until you accept an offer.
No, not necessarily but you should keep searching. |
If this is government, no telling! My spouse got radio silence for a month, was told no when inquired, then hired out of the blue a few weeks later.
I've interviewed for two jobs in the past few months where they said I would hear in the next week and no word literally months later. I called both to confirm I was no longer under consideration, and they both said I was but the process was taking longer than anticipated. I can't say I'm overly optimistic on either, but I wouldn't assume you're out of the running entirely.
THey all lie and say you will hear back, but they only call if they are offering the job. Otherwise, they ghost you.
