| Anyone have recs for training a new pooch? I'd like a group "school" setting, but will consider in-home private lessons as well. Thanks!! |

I assume SideWalkDogTraining.com goes to your neighborhood.
He has gotten a lot of rave reviews on my community listserve (AU Park) |
| I highly recommend George Cockrell's classes at Sniffer's in Rockville http://www.anasark.com/Training.aspx -- he also does home training. He can be a bit long winded at times, but he knows his stuff. We took to high spirited labs to his school after trying two other training programs, one of which used a shock collar, and his methods work the best for us. |
| We used George as well for private training in our house and I too would recommend him. His backround regarding dog training is impressive and he certainly seemed able to demonstrate the success of his training methods in a very short amount of time. |
| Debbie Tolstoi is an excellent trainer with a wealth of experience. She loves dogs and has great common sense advice. We especially liked the way she instructed our kids on how to handle our very high-spirited, but sweet beagle/German Shepherd. She offers group lessons at Kenwood Animal Hospital (nr the intersection of River and Little Falls) and/or comes to your home. You can contact her through the animal hospital at 301.654.3000. |
| Thanks everyone! David Schmucker of SideWalkDogTraining came to our house last night. He was amazing- we've established alpha position in our house, and everything else comes more easily with that... |
|
David Schmucker recommender here - I am glad he was able to help.
I have recommended him a few times on DCUM and each time there is a response about how quick he was able to come in and help the situation. Now - if I ould only get my Brother and SIL to use him for their black lab who terrifies my children. |
| What is the going rate for an in-home visit? |
|
David Schmucker (sidewalkdogtraining.com) came to our house last week to help us address some issues (aggression, separation anxiety, etc) we were having with our two dogs. He was AMAZING. In one 2 1/2 hour session, he was able to effectively address issues that have been a problem for almost 5 years. Neighbors who saw us the next day couldn't believe how differently our dogs were behaving and asked for referrals on the spot!
I believe his rate is $295 for one dog. For two, he charged us $325. I cannot recommend him strongly enough! |
