I am looking for a soccer camp for the summer and wanted to get opinions of Georgetown International Youth Soccer (GIYS), Head First, or any other programs I may not of heard of. My son is 6. Any positive, negative experiences? |
Bethesda Soccer Club (www.bethesdasoccer.org) has camp for U6-U14. BSC is one of the best youth development soccer programs around. My son has attended camp and participated in the club for two years. |
Headfirst is great for younger kids (under 10 is porbably best, it's not as competitive as some others). Very positive coaching philosophy. We've also done the NCS soccer camp (it's co-ed) and that's really good. Not sure of the age range for that - 6 may be a little young. Depends if you are looking for a fun camp or a competitive camp. There can be a big difference in the level of play. Headfirst is more on the fun side of the spectrum. I imagin BSC is much more on the competitive side of the spectrum since a lot of their teams are D1 Travel. |

Here's one that the DC United team is running. |
Just replied on this on another question - but my 7 year old did a camp with the Soccer Pros - excellent program with coaches that really got the younger kids. We will be signing up for the 8/3-7 session on the bethesda campus of sidwell (also was a later one on the dc campus). washington freedom was also doing a camp at sidwell this summer, not sure of dates |
