| How does it work when the MS has 7 periods a day? Do they have PE everyday? Do they bring gym clothes everyday? |
| PE everyday. Gym uniform stays in their gym locker. Comes home on Fridays to be washed over the weekend. |
Depends on the MS. Ours had block scheduling with even days and odd days and one period was a study hall. So PE was every other day depending on which period it was assigned. Gym uniforms came home at the frequency each kid took them home--ideally every week but for some kids, most likely not. |
| Why does PE take up a period the whole school year? When I was in school we had PE opposite an elective. Now there is PE everyday and no room to take an elective if your student is interested. |
FCPS middle schools have two elective periods available each year. 9th and 10th grade are worse - my DS can't wait to be done with PE and foreign language after sophomore year. |
They also teach health and driver's Ed (in HS) during PE. |
Seems to me that elementary school students should have PE every day instead. Once a week doesn't cut it for little kids. |
| Yes, why does middle school have more PE than elementary? This makes no sense. |
We have twice a week, but I agree. |
That That is school specific. My son had gym every other day. Gym unifom stayed at school. Somehow he conned the teacher into washing it. |
OP said her child's school doesn't have a block schedule. |
Was this a block schedule? Otherwise, how did they get away with only doing PE every other day? |
|
OP here ---
Yes, it is a 7 period day. Not a block schedule. So, with PE being everyday, but a short class, do they actually shower? SEems like getting dressed and then back into reg. clothes would take up 15 min. of class. Stinky? |
My DC has not showered for PE in four years.
