Dufief Elementary

Can anyone speak to why the GS rating of Dufief is so low but the schools they feed into are high? Is this due to the Special Ed center there? When I look at the At a Glance facts, nothing seems to warrant the low score. Any recent/ current experience would be most appreciated.

Yes, special ed center brings test scores down. GS rating based on test scores.

THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULD NOT PICK A SCHOOL BASED ON GS RATINGS!!! Sorry for yelling. This is a major pet peeve of mine.

It's rated low because there are only about 150 students, most of which are non-English speakers.

?? DuFief is one of the smallest schools in the county, but it has a little over 300 students. About a quarter are in the special ed learning center program. The ESOL pop is 13%.

And mcps is looking to rezone that area to relive over crowding at RC in Gaithersburg.
