Pool party (wait a few weeks), dinner and a movie with a few friends, pizza and a movie at home with more friends, bowling, one or two friends to Kings Dominion or the like, Bennihana (I think 8 is the max).

My 12 yr old wants to go to Top Golf for his next birthday: http://topgolf.com/us/alexandria/

For his 12th we took him and a couple friends to a show in DC and out to dinner.

Rented large indoor gymnastics gym full of foam "obstacles" and a foam pit and a trampoline -- gave everyone nerf guns and plenty of ammo and let them loose for about 3 hrs. Served cake and icecream. They loved it.

Lazer tag sounds fun to me. Paintball is also another option if the weather's not too gross.

We took my son and four of his friends camping for a night. The boys had a blast, although it aged me about 10 years.

Another mom of soon to be 12 yo ds. Love the Spy Museum idea. Do they do something special for birthday parties? I'm too lazy to look it up right now.
