This woman seated between two obese people is awful but so are they for not buying the extra seat.

Why didn’t the middle seat lady put down the armrests? She probably couldn’t most likely.

If the armrests cannot be put down due to “overflow,” she should request another seat. It’s just physics. You can only squeeze so much mass into a space.

Does anyone know whether United has put out a statement explaining why they didn’t enforce their policy in this case?

I can’t believe the woman being squished was forced to leave the plane. She was talking on the phone, filmed without her permission, called a b**ch, attacked by other passengers, libeled on the internet by editing, put in an impossible position by two tricksters and SHES the problem?

Obnoxious is the new black. Everybody is treating everybody else badly and now it's on film. And these discussions devolve into who was the most obnoxious instead of why are we all treating each other this way. How about some love and mutual respect ???????

Starting with buying seats you can actually fit in.

^ stop for a minute and imagine those people were someone you loved who made a mistake. No one deserves to be treated that way and the airline allowed it

Please be a decent person and stop letting your fat phobia justify bad behavior.

And the. Argument could be made that if YOU don't want to be squished between potential fat people, and you're super high drama, YOU should buy a non middle seat.

Fat phobia? Now I’ve heard it all.

And no, I could never love animals like them. They didn’t show that poor woman even basic human decency. They watched her squash in between them, knowing damn well it must have been uncomfortable, didn’t offer to switch, didn’t apologize, didn’t do the right thing and actually buy the four seats they should have purchased originally, etc. and then they cried foul when she complained. Well yeah, if you act like an animal then people are going to eventually call you out on it. Zero sympathy here.

Obviously this whole love and mutual respect thing is going to take a few days to kick in

Np. But no. Badly is an adverb modifying “feel”

Bad is an adjective so it be improper

I fly often and don't have an issue. Hell I flew with a lap infant in a middle seat last week and never crossed the line. I did think that the person next to me should have given me the arm rest since I had a lap infant and was in the middle, but he didn't and I survived.

We need seats reserved for the obese. If you're over 225, you're required to reserve and pay for those (or first class).

Lol. 225 fits quite neatly into an economy seat, thank you very much.

+1

Those people were waaay over 225. I think 400 is a good estimate.

Please let me know when you plan to fly next and where to and I’ll gladly let you sit in the middle should I find myself in that situation that she was in.
