What percent of those supposed 70 percent actually know what the Common Core standards are? Not a very high proportion, I'm guessing. But that doesn't stop them from being against it anyway. |
Far more than you think. |
I'm the OP. I voted for Obama twice, but Common Core is a bipartisan disaster. |
PP - We are in the same exact boat, which is why I am suing the county to pay for my DS' private education. Every SpEd teacher will tell you that CC is an epic fail, they are all frustrated by it. |
And I never voted for Obama and agree with you. It is a huge bipartisan disaster - its embarrassing honestly. |
Given that NOBODY has yet actually put forward a legitimate, cogent or fact-based argument against Common Core and that all of their arguments fall apart when asked to cite a specific standard, I'd agree that most who are opposed to Common Core haven't the foggiest idea what they are talking about and that 99.9% of the opposition is based on sketchy viral chain emails, facebook posts and other nonsense that are either pure fiction or which grossly mischaracterize and misrepresent Common Core. |
| Common Core was created to support corporations who are selling their ipads and crap to schools. That's it 100% |
"I voted for Obama twice, but..." sets my bullshit detector off every time. |
Then I don't understand why those corporations (which corporations, exactly?) went to such trouble, given that, if the Common Core standards went poof tomorrow, schools would still buy electronics, and the educational publishing industry would continue to sell materials of varying quality to the schools, just as it did before the Common Core standards. |
I honestly don't understand. Why do you blame the Common Core standards for the county not providing the education to your son that you believe the law requires? Especially since (as I understand it) MCPS was notorious for not providing the education to children that their parents believed the law requires, long before the Common Core standards? |
What specific aspect of the Common Core standards do you consider a huge disaster? |
Go read the other threads. This question has been asked before--and answered repeatedly. |
Are you the PP? I'm not asking the question in general. I'm asking the PP, specifically, what specific aspect of the Common Core standards the PP considers a huge disaster. We are all anonymous here. If you are the PP, and you have answered the question before, on another thread, there is no way for me to know this. |
Told you where you can find the answers. Pages and pages of answers. |
So, just to be clear -- you're the PP, and you're purposely not answering the question? I have read all of those other threads, to my sorrow, and the answer to the question of what specific aspect of the Common Core standards is a huge disaster is apparently EVERYTHING, down to the words "the" and "and" in "CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.K.2 Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing." -- and if two opponents of the Common Core standard have two different answers that are mutually contradictory and cannot both be true, that is just further proof of the badness of the Common Core standards. |
