Ebola scare at the Pentagon now: http://www.arlnow.com/2014/10/17/developing-ebola-scare-at-the-pentagon/
Patient is at VHC. |
I don't think everything has changed. Many Americans are pretty fearful, all the time. This type of events plays into their fear. We typically call those suffering from this dreadful agony: Republicans. |
Unprofessional? This is Jeff's forum, he can do what he thinks makes sense. |
The article says she had visited Africa recently. Africa is a huge continent, I hope they at least clarified what part of Africa. I can't imagine what this years cold and flu season is going to be like. |
Did the police catch and arrest someone? Or did you call and say a man is following me and they responded, saying to you "good thing you called that in" but never found anyone? Because if its the latter I suspect your vigilance has crossed a line. I appreciate the way Jeff is controlling these posts. Otherwise we would have dozens - perhaps posted by the sane small group of people -- throwing out all sorts of irrational scenarios. This kind of fear mongering has a cost. It leads people to regard others with suspicion. It creates a mob mentality that can do actual harm. It obscures the truth - yes, the truth -- so that people receive misinformation. You are absolutely entitled to be afraid and angry and whatever else it is you are feeling at the moment. But when you keep posting like this, you aren't accomplishing anything. You are not convincing anyone. You are just adding to the already unhealthy amount of noise. |
| I meant same small group of people |
Listen, I consider myself liberal, at least in many aspects, and I totally agree: handling too lax on all fronts, CDC all over the place, Frieden needs to go, etc etc. Totally appalled by the handling of the entire outbreak domestically and internationally. I'm for limiting travel to the three countries, slowing/holding visas until this is under control, REAL quarantine (not I will call you from my vacation kind of quarantine) Obama should have been on the phone with European leaders and through whichever countries flights are routing to the US MONTHS ago, not last week, to discuss how this could be handled in scenario X. The Europeans are just as behind. I want to appeal to all sides to stop bringing "liberals think this" and "conservatives think this" into this! It is really counterproductive - you need to think of what's the best way to handle this, and go forward, from a virology standpoint, not a political standpoint. |
Yes, I would not characterize some of these posts as "sane"! |
I agree. Although I did regret he deleted (I think because I can't find it) the link to an article on Ebola goods on Etsy. The pillow embroidered Hola Ebola provided a good laugh. Sorry for the macabre sense of humor... |

Nurse who flew may have had ebola symptoms for *days* before flying.

| What if the Nigerians fly to el Salvador or Mexico and sneak in. Those people are border crossing experts. |
I don't know why I'm bothering to respond to this ridiculous crap but there is currently no Ebola in Nigeria. That had a small outbreak and they were able to control it. How about you learn a little more about your subject if you're going to post on it? |
I posted on e. You deleted it. I posted again. You deleted it. But you left that fact out in your post. Because you love to gaslight |
Sorry, but you're wrong. Many, many Dems are worried about this situation and think it has been and is being poorly handled. Myself included. Everyone I work with, included. That's not a robust sample, but you can't say only Republicans think this is a sh*tshow. Lots of moderates and liberals think this is a sh*tshow. I think it's stupid to make it about Obama, because it's about much more than Obama. But I do think it's about incompetence, on many levels. |
