Stoddert Soccer - What's Going On?

Anonymous
Anyone know what's going on at Stoddert? (I'm a parent with a travel player.) I just received an email telling us the executive director was canned (well, "left"), and there seem to be some other less prominent changes going on. The lack of communication this Spring about next year's travel program has been disappointing, both as to how they're handling the age group changes and who will be coaching what level.

I agree the email was kind of out of nowhere and leads to speculation, but to say he was "canned" isn't backed up by any evidence. That's not fair to post, and it's not nice of you to write that on a public forum.

What do you mean by lack of communication? We're U9 and have gotten quite a few emails on the age group changes.

The "wish him best in his future endeavors" is code for firing someone.

I hope that the changes mean the communication will get better too. We are U9 also and haven't received any communications this year.

Are you girls? We're U9 boys and have had at least 3 long emails from the head coach on age group changes.

He was definitely fired.

Not fair to whom? Stoddert or Mr. Homer? Should I have used the football term "sacked"?

Sorry the short-hand offended, but when an email comes announcing that someone left effective on a Saturday before the email was sent, it seems entirely reasonably to conclude that Mr. Homer was not leaving entirely of his own volition. Perhaps he was not fired, but instead chose to resign in the face of an imminent dismissal or perhaps out of complete frustration with Stoddert. If Mr. Homer had decided he was moving on to another job/better opportunities/etc. then this would have been announced in advance.

Anyway, I don't really care about the formal nature on which they parted ways, I want to know why and what's going on at Stoddert. Was Homer running it poorly? Is Stoddert in disarray and he was trying to hold it together, while bickering coaches and technical directors wanted to run the show? Has the board been taken over by a group with a different vision?

Homer's moving on may be better for Stoddert, but how is anyone to know whether that's true when there's no further explanation of anything?

You know, it's not like they can put a personnel matter in a public email. You realize that, right?
Out of respect for Mr Homer and Stoddert both.

You will have to wait to hear about it from someone in person at some point.

My DDs coach does not know himself.

It's code for thinly veiled polite professionalism.

I know members of the board and he was fired. There are some big internal differences going on, though I think this improves things a lot.

I heard the board is kind of a pain?

Not that I'm aware. I was on a board and I thought we functioned pretty well.

They stated in email he no longer serves, which is a personnel matter.

What matters is whether some explanation of what's going on is due to parents, regardless of whether Homer was fired, resigned, or mutually agreed to part ways.

its a little shady that a former board member is now the ED taking over Mr. Homer's 135k salary.
