Have any DCUM women been prescribed Testosterone?

Anonymous
I know this is not a medical forum but my wife's doc has prescribed it for her and I don't know what to think.

Do any DCUM'rs have experience with this?

Testosterone is not FDA approved to be used for women, is it?

OP here. No its not. Its prescribed for various off label reasons such as sex drive or bone density issues. And as far as I know, there are no long term studies regarding its safety. I don't know why her doc prescribed it.

Yes, I've been prescribed it and it's awesome. I have really low T levels, which was causing a lot of problems in conjunction with some other medical issues. Within a week of being on it, I noticed immediate improvements in my mood and libido. If your wife has had a complete hysterectomy where her ovaries were removed or problems with her adrenal system, low T is a common side effect. So far, it isn't FDA approved (which is bullshit if you ask me), but I've never had issues with insurance covering it.

OP here. Thank you for responding!

I just don't want her taking something that might be bad for her.

She hasn't had a histerectomy and isn't on any meds currently (shes 43). Her doctor just determined that shes low and possibly prescribed to help with mood and libido.

How long have you been taking it?

Did it affect your weight or body composition?

How did it affect your libido?

You don't know why her doc prescribed it? I would assume your wife would know why her doc prescribed it...what did she say?

Dangerous with many long term side effects, shouldn't be prescribed.

I think this is actually a fishing post. OP wants his wife to maybe go on testosterone because OP feels she has a low sex drive.

At least that's the first thing that came to mind when I read this post.

Could be I'm biased because of my own personal marital issues.

I've been athletic my entire life and was in shape when I started taking it-- didn't notice a difference in my physique but I'm on a low dose. I have put on a couple pounds since (less than 5). I suspect this may be due more to the other medical issues I'm dealing with that have changed how I can work out and I'm not at all bothered by it.

My libido increased dramatically almost right away.

To the OP who asked how long I've been on it, ~ 9 months I think.

OP here. We have sex twice a week and thats fine for me. Lots of bitter guys on DCUM but I'm not one of them.

What is the increase in libido like? Do you just think about it more? Notice attractive people more?

I can't remember what my 20's were like! LOL.
