I'm putting myself back out there because the kids are old enough that I don't need to be home full time as well as DH is scaling back on his career due to health reasons. So far I had two interviews on Friday that went well and I'm sitting down trying to write thank you notes. Googling around gave me a lot of conflicting information on what was proper follow up etiquette, sometimes in the same article.
I find that I have to send a snail mail thank you card (recruiter A contacted me via phone and she doesn't seem to be on LinkedIn). I figured since I'm sending out one mailed thank you, I might as well mail a thank you to Interviewer B. I wonder though, would you all still send B a quick email thank you? Or do you think it would come across as too eager? |
| I would do one or the other. if you are going to mail your thank you, don't e-mail another thank you. One is enough. Btw, in this day of technology, I would appreciate a hand written thank you. I would remember you. |

I'm 49 and what I've done, FWIW, is send a thank-you e-mail to everyone who interviewed me. Short, sincere, friendly tone. I also hand write a thank-you to the lead interviewer/hiring manager and send it that day.
I think the e-mail is more important because it arrives quickly. And the work world is all about quick these days. If they liked you and they felt you were a good fit as far as personality, the e-mail/snail mail will just confirm that for them, not make them think you are over eager. If they didn't like you or had concerns, it might not do any good, but again, being courteous is never going to hurt. |
| One or the other. I recently went back to the work force. Only had snail mail info for one so sent a note in the mail. Emailed the other. I was offered both jobs. |
