Better job than association?

Anonymous
I work at a health association in the DC area, doing communications (emails, newsletter, monthly magazine, website updates, social media). I get 3 weeks vacation time and good insurance and other benefits. I have a masters degree (public health) and about 5 years experience in nonprofit/assn across misc positions. I'm 31 and make about 65k, 70k with bonuses. I'm bored and don't love my job and feel poor because I have student loan debt. Is there a field or something better than this setup? I want more money but love my benefits and fairly laid back job.

I think there is always a trade-off. More money usually means less flexibility, or something else less desireable.

Are you planning on having kids soon? Once I had a baby, I really valued my low-paying, but flexible with good benefits and short commute job more. Just something to think about.

I do have a young toddler which has made life more expensive and made me a little hungrier for more money to make it worth me working. I don't work late but I also have no flexibility or telework possibility.

I think I know you! Did we discuss this the other week over bagels? No worries, I won't share any details that will "out" you.

Honestly, those benefits don't seem that great. Look for something you like more.

Only if you are writing the mommy track threads...

I also work at a health association and it sounds like you were hired at the associate level. If you can get promoted to manager or get that job at another well funded association you should see a big increase
