| Can anyone recommend a place for testing for my DC who I suspect has attention issues? Preferably one that does not have a 1 year waiting list for an appointment? I called for an appointment with Kennedy Krieger last November and got an appt for May but just had to reschedule because it is on the same day as the SOLs. The next available appointment they have is October! Any advice appreciated, thanks |
| Stixrud Group in Silver Spring is very good and we were able to get an appointment in a few weeks. However, they are very expensive and don't take insurance. Seems like the few places that take insurance have long waits, so pick your poison - lots of money or a long wait. |
| ask kennedy Krieger to put you on their same day cancellation list. if you have some schedule flexibility (i.e. can drop everything and run the day or the day after they call you), you can get in fast. I got a cancellation appt. 3 weeks after sending in paperwork (after being quoted an 8 month wait time). |
| which department at KKI? Last year at this time, the wait for dev peds was about 4 months. |

It is frustrating. But your subject line is a little unfair.
You actually had a 6-month wait (not 12) and need to reschedule, so a second 6-month wait. |
| I would've kept the original appt and blown off the SOLs |
I agree. Schools have SOL makeup/retake days. |
Teacher here. Definitely keep the appt. and do not reschedule. There are built in make-up days so don't worry about missing that one day. My son had to wait 4 months and nothing was going to make me skip that appt. at KKI. |
| We went from initial call to having a completed report in our hands in less than two months will Children's (earlier this year). We were on the cancellation list and when I called to make sure they had received a fax from our school, she offered me a spot that had just opened up. |

We got an appointment scheduled for about 1 week later at Inova Kellar, and we got our written report within a month.
