| I have a job interview coming up and I need to take the metro. I can't walk in heels for long distances so I was thinking of wearing sneakers and packing my heels in a backpack. Would it be unprofessional to show up to the interview with a backpack? |
| Yes. Bring a nice tote instead or take a taxi. |
Really depends on the backpack. |
| OP here. Thanks for the responses. It's a north face haha. |
| I had an interview yesterday. Walked in my sneakers, changed to heels in Starbucks next door. Carried a large black tote. No backpack if you can avoid it. |
exactly. Sucks to be a woman. |
| You should wear the backpack during the interview |
| Yes! No backpack. |
| If you are a student, this is fine. If not, just bring a big black tote like the PP and stash your sneakers in there. |
| This is stupid. I am a hiring manager and would never judge anyone by what they use to carry their shoes. It is very common to see backpacks. I use one instead of a purse now. |
| Wear lightweight flip flops or take a cab. |
| +1 sandals or flip flops |
|
no backpack. I take a green tote (single bag).
Had to change in recent job interview, stash boots in closet (at potential employer) because it was pouring rain. It was through a recruiter so I had arranged that ahead of time. |
I don't disagree with the larger point, but a guy should also not be wearing a backpack (or comfortable shoes) for a job interview. . . |
Agree. And I would just think you're practical which is a plus in my hiring opinion. |
