| Hoping I'll get some feedback here or I'll post in the schools forum. I'd like to try my 4 year old very active boy on soccer starting the fall. We live in DC and will travel within city limits and close-in areas outside of DC if need be. I'm trying to find something with early Saturday mornings. We leave town a lot on weekends to travel to VA to be with family (we get tired of the DC hustle bustle during week and try to escape as much as possible on weekends until we make our final move to the VA burbs in two years). So I'm trying to find something that won't eat into the weekend too much, so we can leave the city by 11am/12-ish. Does this exist?! Ideally, the practice/game or whatever would be around 9am-ish and end a little after 10am-ish. That would leave us enough time to freshen up the kid and high tail it on down to VA. We would pack our car and drive ready to roll to the practice, so we would just have to tidy up the sweaty kid (he can shower at my in-laws once we're down in VA) and then be on our way. So, any ideas of what might be available? |
| Takoma Soccer has practices at 9 am and 10 am on Saturdays for that age group. |

Arlington parks & rec might have classes early on Saturday, but they haven't posted their summer schedule yet, and they won't have the fall schedules out till late summer.
Once you are actually on a team in kindergarten, you won't have much control over when the games are - they can be pretty much any time on Saturday between 8 and 5. |
| I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, or what program you are looking for, but I would look at Fairfax County's Summer Parktakes, which lists their parks and rec classes. There are a ton of soccer options for kids that age. Some are indoor and some are outdoor. Keep in mind that these are classes--not leagues. Also, Arlington Parks and Rec has many options for kids that age. For a 4yo, I would try one of these. |
Major help here. Thanks! Are the games also at that same time? |
4 year olds only have practices with some small scrimmages within the team...so no formal games. In K, they have a 45 min practice followed by a 45 min scrimmage against another team, once per week. Starting in 1st grade they have a practice during the week and a game on the weekend. |

I got an email that Coach John was starting a short session 8 a.m. Saturday soccer class in Alexandria this spring for 3-4 yo. I don't know if there are plans to continue it through fall.

PP again. Looks like there are already soccer classes for 4 yo on Saturday morning in spots other than Alexandria. |

Super Soccer Stars is awesome! Both my eldest children did it and I suspect once my littlest is old enough to run he will do it as well. http://dc.supersoccerstars.com/classes/search-schedule/
We do it at Waterfront Academy. It is great. The coaches are awesome and when it is raining or cold, we can head inside one of the classrooms. The kids still get to play. |
