| I am going to treat myself to a facial after over a year and would like to spend my money someplace worthwhile... I have very oily skin / tend to breakout and need a thorough cleansing, good extraction, and also need to relax! I would prefer to not spend too much money (and thus would prefer to avoid places like Mandarin Oriental and the Four Seasons ... unless it's worth it)! |

Laugh if you will, but there is a spa in a strip mall in King Farm (Rockville) that I love: Elaj Day Spa. I actually like it better than the Mandarin. It's an Aveda spa, and they usually annoy me, but their facials are great.
Also, Bliss is opening up in DC on July 8 if you can wait a few weeks! |

Look into Sugar House in Old Town.
I had shiatsu at the Mandarin which was pretty good. Haven't had a facial there. The water relaxation room was really nice, and you can hang out there as long as you want. Hubby and I had massages at McLean Face & Body before our wedding which were blissful. We were lumps afterwards. Its not the kind of place where you lounge around in your robe reading a magazine, if that's what you're looking for. Try their "3 Hour Vacation." Facials are great and effective. Its just a 3 room place, husband and wife handle the massages and facials, respectively. |

Sugarhouse is probably the most overrated spa around.
I personally love the spa at the Hyatt in GT, but it is definitely pricey. |
