I have a massive sty in my eye. Swollen, puffy and red. And of course I have an interview tomorrow With the board of directors for a major job. I really really want. Should I address it? Make a joke? Ignore it?
Any tips on how to cover it up!?! Please help! |
| I would address it by making a joke in the beginning and then continue as normal |
| Sorry, OP. That sucks. I agree with PP, if it's really as bad as you say, then maybe say something about how of all days you happen to have a stye today but your eyes are "focused on the work ahead" or something corny and you expect it to go away in a week and then just completely act like it's not a thing. Maybe take some ibuprofen an hour before to temporarily reduce the inflammation? |
Wow great advice!!! Take aleve though imo so in 4 hours it's not like your Cinderella ride turns into a pumpkin. And try anything anti inflammatory. Chamomile tea. Bananas. Everything. |
| Would mascara help? Also eyeglasses? |
| I'm no expert on sties, but you might want to get a disposable eye patch (the band aid like kind) to hide it. Then it could be eye surgery or something else. |
| Can you get a cortisone shot? I had this happen once when I was about to be a bridesmaid and went to the ER and was given this. |
If OP uses mascara she'll have to grow it away after the sty goes away. Otherwise she'll risk reinfecting herself. |
| I would get a black eye patch, and open by asking if they are planning on doing anything for "dress like a pirate day"? |
| I'd apologize for it and give a brief explanation, including that it's not contagious, at the beginning of the interview. I don't think using a patch and implying it's surgery is the way to go. |
| Maybe it's because I have a young kid, but I would want to make it clear that it's not pinkeye (ie it's not contagious), and then I would ignore it. |
When DD got styes, we usually just waited them out. But one time it was really bad and we got an Rx for some ointment that cleared it up pretty fast. Maybe a trip to Minute Clinic is in order? |
My favorite If the sty is really gross-looking, it could be distracting so this makes it more of a non-issue. I would also mention that you are having an eye infection, though...the patch will just make it easier to focus on you.
You might want to experiment first by walking around outsdie and seeing how people react. |
| OP, not sure if you are on your way to your interview or not, but I would definitely call your opthamologist or clinic and see if they can give you a cortisone shot or treatment to make it temporarily better. Good luck! |
| Ignore it. |
