Help! My nanny just quit.

Anonymous
I had a nanny hired for the summer and she just gave notice because she got another job. I am looking for summer camps in a big way. I am looking in Northern Virginia and I am specifically looking for summer camps in which the counselors undergo background checks before being approved to work with kids. My child will be 7 over the summer.

I thought every camp counselor had to undergo a criminal background check?
When is your child's birthday?
Does it matter if it's full or half day?
I am guessing you need someone to do pick-up whenever the camp is over?

I can't say 100% about the background checks, although I agree with PP, if the camp is licensed I think they have to do them. But I've heard that the camp at Knights of Columbus is good as is Congressional School's camp.

Langley School has all of its offerings listed on-line, as well as an area listing classes that are currently full. They only have camp for 5 weeks though.

I'm not sure where in Northern Virginia you are, but if you are in the Fairfax area, you could look at JCCNV. They have a general camp with swimming lessons and field trips and other activities. They are open for 10 weeks and have care before and after.

I know of an incredible nanny for the Summer. She is extremely interactive with my children and I would recommend her to anyone who wants a nanny that doesn't just sit on the couch and watch television. She genuinely loves what she does, as she is graduating with a double major in Early Childhood Development and Child Psychology. She creates extremely imaginative games to play with the kids and makes them educational too! If you would like her contact information, feel free to let me know!
