Room with an incredible view, max 2-3 hour drive from DC?

Anonymous
Looking to getaway for a few days. Can anyone recommend a hotel with a great view right from the room, with a private balcony? Need some nature and peace.

2-3 hour drive max from DC. Doesn't have to be super luxurious, but clean, and a nice bathtub would be great. Thank you.

I haven't stayed here- https://www.nationalparkreservations.com/lodge/shenandoah-skyland-resort/rooms/#property-header-menu
but my parents did a few months ago and showed me some gorgeous pictures they took from their room.

Skyland is nice but REALLY rustic. Definitely not a nice bathtub type place.

It's Charlottesville, not Centreville

I've always wanted to stay at L'Auvergne Provencal, or its sister location. If only for the view, maybe I would go with Harper's Ferry. I couldn't do shenandoah in a Lodge the rooms look icky I would rather Camp.

Tilghman Island Inn or something like that, it's about 20 minutes on the other side of St. Michael's. Great views and tub and food.
