| Hello! We are moving to the DC area soon -- most likely near Bethesda... Just curious to see if there are any other Orthodox members in this forum? It seems there are several Orthodox churches in the area! |
| I am Orthodox too! What kind of Orthodox are you? We are Coptic. |
| We are members of St. Sophia--Greek Orthodox Church in NW DC. |

My family Serbian Orthodox, however I was raised going to a the only Orthodox church within driving distance of our home, which was a Greek Church. My husband's job has moved us around a few times -- as an adult I have attended Serbian, Greek, and Antiochian Churches. I've not had the opportunity to attend a Coptic Church yet, but it seems there are some in the area around DC!
Of the the churches I've attended, I've loved that they all have had their own unique little traditions that have made them each special. I am glad to see there are a few others on here! |

I was very fond of St. Constantine and St Helen Greek Orthodox congregation as an occasional visitor. They are currently having services in a Ukrainian orthodox church while building a new church in Silver Spring. Really nice community with families with kids of all ages.
http://schgoc.org/parishinfo/ I have passed St. Mark's in Bethesda often, but have not been there. Lots of things happening on their website. |
| OP here, our Job prospects changed and we wound up in Virginia/Dulles rather than Bethesda -- we are Looking forward to finding a parish here! |
| We belong to St. Mark and it is such a great parish. About half of the parishers commutes from VA side. Come visit us! |
Not to hijack the post, but are there any good, family friendly Eastern Orthodox churches in northern Virginia? I used to attend a wonderful church in Dearborn, MI (Bulgarian), but haven't had much luck since I moved down here. My daughter has never been to church and I know she is missing out---my old church had so many fun activities for kids, not to mention opportunities to be in the choir or help out with festivals. Is there anything like that around here? I could stray a bit from Orthodox if need be, just so long as it's not a church like the one on the Simpsons

| I love Trinity in McLean. |
There are tons on the VA side: Greek, Romanian, Serbian. Some have the mass in English, some in other languages. |
