Dining room lighting

| We need to replace our dining room light. Our dining room us very small and we can't actually center the table where the light is currently placed because it doesn't provide enough room to move around the table. It drives me crazy, but I can't fix it right now. How do I minimize the impact? Nearby lighting in the kitchen is brushed nickel. Thoughts? Help? |

| Get a light with a long cord and hang a hook over table and extend the cord through the hook to center light. Or, replace light with a box of hanging pendants where the electrical connection is off centers but hidden in one of the ends of the box. Or, replace the light with a recessed light and put wall lights up to use. Even if you have no lights on the wall now you can get plug ins that hang on wall, all you need are nearby outlets. |

Can you swag the chain by installing a hook? You can buy a new chain if you need more length and a hook to recenter. Cheap and easy fix.
Or use some lamps in addition, try putting one or a pair on a buffet. Or last option, buy a standing lamp to stick in the corner. |

The room is tight, so I have to stick with ceiling lighting. Can something like this be used the way the two PPs mentioned? You can swag any light fixture with a chain. When you buy a new one, it comes with more chain than you will need.
You might want something with more light, than the fixture you posted. |
