Testing 13 dpo +

Anonymous
I tested on 12 dpo and had a negative test. Now I'm at 15 dpo and no period. I wasn't planning on buying and taking another test. I'm sick and tired of poas. I also got the impression that an early result test would definitely show a positive by 12 dpo...right? Is it horrible if I keep drinking this weekend and take a test on Monday if I still haven't gotten my period? I have been trying for years and can't imagine I'm actually pregnant.

Uggh. I'm so sorry -- the limbo period is the absolute worst! There are definitely two camps about the drinking thing, but I would say that if you do imbibe, so do so with moderation. If you're pregnant, the baby isn't connected to your blood supply yet, so not the WORST thing, just don't overdo it.

If you've been trying for a while, I can imagine not wanting to invest in more tests right away. How long is your LP usually? Yes, by 12dpo most people have seen a faint positive, but not everyone does. If you don't usually get your period until 15-16dpo, I'd wait another few days. You can always have ovulated a day or two later than you thought. Oh, and how are your temps?

Sorry to not be more help, but I just wanted to sympathize with you. Limbo is terrible. I am waiting to test a few more days, but had a happy hour last night. Was super conflicted about drinking as well. In the end I had one glass of wine and then ordered "vodka soda with pineapple" the rest of the night -- snuck over to the waiter and asked him to make them without the vodka. Nobody was the wiser (not even DH). Good luck, and keep us posted on how things turn out!

Thanks. I don't temp. It stresses out my husband. But my last wet day was day 19 and now it's day 34.

Op here. I've also had days of cramping.

Do you know how long your luteal phase usually is? (If not temping, prob the time of last wet day until period starts.) Can be a wide range, but that'll give you a better clue. If it were me I'd just pee on a stick to be sure

I temped for three months and I believe it was 14 days.

Buy the cheapies like wondfos so you don't have to stress about this. I hate that drug store tests are $10+!

Dollar store test will be positive if you're pregnant and actually 15 dpo. Good luck!

Op here. I am buying and taking a test this afternoon. I looked at fertility friend and it lists my "recommended test date" as two days ago. Is this a good sign? I don't recall ever seeing a "recommended test date" before. I suppose the last bfn I had could have possibly been on 11 dpo.

Even though I'm probably 14-16 dpo by this point and plan on drinking this evening?

You don't need to wait until tomorrow morning. At 14-16 DPO you will get a positive if you're pregnant. Most likely you ovulated a bit late. You should start temping.

No point. I have an embryo transfer coming up. My husband gets stressed out when I temp.

Why tell him? I temp in the bathroom. I get up, go to the bathroom, take my temp. The 30 seconds between rolling out of bed and getting into the bathroom do not affect my temperatures, regardless of the literature that says if you twitch a muscle before temping it will mess everything up.
