Does PG County have a school fair?

We are moving to PG County. Is there a school fair that showcases the different schools in the county?

I have been wanting to tour or visit elementary schools in trying to make the decision re: public v private
I'm thinking public elementary school with good parental support will be fine - thoughts?
Of course it depends on the elementary school [maybe]

But do tours by perspective parents seem creepy to administrators?
I'd be more than happy to undergo background check/fingerprints.
Has this ever been done before?

It depends on the elementary school, specifically the principal. Some of the magnet schools have set tour schedules, some schools just give tours as parents request them, some have tours organized by the PTA and some schools won't do tours at all.

It is not creepy at all. Our previous principal refused to give tours, the new principal is completely open to them.

Another way to get a feel for the school is to call/email and see if they need community volunteers. We have members of the community who work in the library and help with reading. They might need help with the garden club or one of the teachers might want help with a bulletin board etc. The PTA might be a good place to start if you don't want to call the school directly.

Be mindful that PARCC testing is going on right now so they might not be up for a tour until closer to the end of the year or early next year.
