| My 5yo DS was recently diagnosed with HFA. I'm trying to come up with the right combination of SLP, OT, and other therapy, but I'm finding it daunting having appointments to go to after school nearly every day of the week. Has anyone found any therapists that will come to your house? Thanks |

You may find an in-home provider for PT or OT through a private agency, but it will be expensive. I have not heard of speech therapists doing this. One thing is to focus on what your son really needs the most during the school year. Perhaps put more intensity in all the therapies during the summer and then reduce the area which is not needed as much. If he is not in kindergarten as yet, you might consider a private child care program with academics for this coming year where his day could be flexible around therapy visits if you can do the transportation or find a sitter to do so. We found front loading the therapies and an extra year in preschool really helped our daughter years ago. Once you get into public school it is much more lockstep. |

Where are you located? We have had ST come to our house. OT we go to the office b/c that is where the equipment is that is needed for therapy.

+1. The SLP we used worked for Mont Co early intervention during the day and came to our house once a week after school -- we lived just mile from her home. It's hard to find - we just got lucky. |
| Thanks everyone - this is the OP. My son is in Pre-K this year and we are trying to figure out what to do for K. I don't want to let the next few months just slide by though and I fear he's really taking some steps back with his rigidity in his current regular preschool where they really accommodate him by letting him do what we wants. I thought about pulling him early in the day from pre-K to focus on his specific issues to get him ready for K but I know we can't manage running around town every afternoon. We are in NW DC. |
| I used to work in EI and would see a couple private patients in their homes after work. You might just need to ask around. |
| Look for teachers at school-a lot of them do in home ST after school. Also check out the grad school programs-you may be able to find someone through T that. |
