Blake Lively- Jason Baldoni and NYT - False Light claims

The NYTimes' approach to its smear campaign article still confuses me. It sounds like they should be safe if they're claiming all they did was report on the content of Lively's complaint. But if they went through all that effort to review the text messages and talk to Lively herself, wouldn't Justin's defamation case be stronger? I know nothing about the law though, so maybe I'm wrong.

Who would you suggest here?

I do. And yes.

DP. I think they are already representing one of the PR agencies. But point taken.

Yes, the more they allege that is not "according to the complaint," the greater the risk to them, but I don't think it's an enormous risk.

Baldoni filed an amended lawsuit, pointing out that metadata shows the NYTimes had been working with Lively for at least a couple of months

Here's the amended document (different from the link above): https://dam.tmz.com/document/22/o/2025/02/01/2239f45c1ecb4e1680f278ba9c5c6092.pdf

Justin addresses Blake's claim that he had sex without consent. "In her Complaint, she intentionally misrepresents the story to suggest that Baldoni had engaged in sexual conduct without consent. In fact, it was the other way around. Baldoni was referencing an intimate relationship in which he was the one who did not give consent, not the other way around."

Listen to the Molly McPherson podcast a PP posted. She's a PR guru who breaks down what she believes happened with all of this. Main point she has been saying since last August is RR's hands are all over this.

I just find it weird that no one thinks Blake has her own agency. People either think she is the victim of Baldoni or Reynolds. Maybe, just maybe, she was the main instigator.

Could be. At this stage, if you're team Molly or whatever the "Baldoni victim " is completely out the window as meritless and Blake is either pumped up on her own agency and a villain or RR is behind the scenes pushing this hard. So, perceiving her as lacking agency is kind of a benefit of the doubt kindness that she may be in a shitty marriage to a control freak and not have much say over this. Or maybe she's a terrible person flexing. Could be either.

Some things the amended complaint includes:

—call sheet with the set marked as “closed” for the birthing scene.
—texts from JB to the wellness coach where he reaches out to her regarding probiotics on behalf of BL, who was on antibiotics.
—texts from JB to Nathan where he says why he wanted to do this film: he lost his virginity to his abusive girlfriend in a nonconsensual way. His memories were fuzzy, and at times he blamed himself for the abuse, which is why he depicted the abuse scenes as initially fuzzy in the film but then becoming more clear later on. (He says this is the conversation that BL was referring to when she claimed he “admitted” to assaulting other women.)
—texts from RR to JB where RR is really trying to sell JB on the idea of BL having lots of creative input (texts were initiated by JB—in a “let’s be friends” introduction).

Complaint also alleges that RR told multiple people (JB’s agent, execs, etc.) that JB was a “sexual predator.”

She lied about -everything- and her husband made it worse.

Thanks PP! I'm curious now to go through her complaint and see if anything stands. And I supported her at first.

It’s legit shocking to me. His attorney got the associates on round the clock Red Bull and have now provided an exhibit-dense annotated updated timeline with substantiated point by point refutations of every claim. Maybe more crucially, it is now the more evidenced and more rational conclusion that Lively wanted writing and additional credits and that Baldoni was open and listening the entire time. Accommodating work-life issues. Available for feedback. Running a set not only compliant with EEO concerns but with additional protections.

Blake Lively is a pure liar and so is her husband. There was a post for a series of them trying to get conversation shut down here and now I see why.

So I was neutral in the beginning but have been suspicious of BL for a while. The evidence seems overwhelming that BL is lying about most things in her complaint. Is there any chance legally that JB’s attorney would be allowing this info to come out if it’s not legit?

Fabricated? very unlikely. But of course it’s all organized to be persuasive for Baldoni’s side and they could have left unfavorable details out. That said … the narrative really casts doubt on BL.

This crash and burn is glorious. Couldn’t happen to two more obnoxious and deserving narcissists. Ryan will probably divorce the middle aged mean girl like the ruthless social climber he is.
