How easy to take it during TWW after FET?

Anonymous
I am 4dp3dt and I don't think I have been still enough, quiet enough, etc. I have had to deal with some travel and work stress. I end up feeling exhausted and have even been a bit negative. Just worrying a little bit I guess. Any advice?

I like to take it as easy as possible, but honestly, I'm just taking advantage of the opportunity to be a lazy bum. As long as you're following your RE's restrictions, you're good. I try my best to just put everything out of mind. If you have stuff to distract you, that can help.

My RE (at Shady Grove) said there is no medical evidence that couch rest helps with implantation. She said as long as I follow the activity restrictions (re how much you can lift, no orgasms, etc) I would be good.

Yeah, I've been on the no-sex, no lifting restrictions and rested mostly for the first day, less on the second, more again on the third. I've caught myself hurrying and jogging a few times like to cross the street for example. Today my pregnant co-worker fell and got hurt, and I went in the ambulance with her at high speed and then took a bus back to work. I missed lunch and did not eat til dinner time. It just has not been relaxing. I'm glad the weekend is here.

i threw up the day of my FET (ate some bad food at a lebaneese taverna) and then we had a fire drill in our apt bldg in the middle of the night. i thought for sure all that had ruined the transfer, but we ended up getting bfp and are now 7 weeks along. so don't beat yourself up, you do what you can but life happens. just take it easy and give yourself a break for things you couldn't control.

They told me no exercise for 2-3 days after transfer. I swam laps 2.5 days after my transfer, then continued my usual exercise routine thereafter (but lowered the amount of weight I lifted). Got a bfp. So for me, activity did not negatively impact anything.

I'm interested to hear this. My RE said sex was fine, but no lifting anything more than 10lbs, no high impact exercise, no and no sauna, hot tub or baths during the TWW.

Oh, interesting. I've had four transfers and each nurse gives a slightly different shpiel, but they always say no sex/orgasms. This is at SG Rockville. I've never been told the bath thing, but I put myself on that restriction. I had one nurse specifically say swimming was okay, but I mostly stick to walking for the TWW.

Only restriction I got was no sex/orgasm. I continued to exercise like normal (this was true for #1 from a fresh cycle as well). I'm now 26w. I've had 7 transfers in my life, and every single nurse and RE has said something slightly different. The available medical research that I've been able to find does not show any differences for outcome with the exception of not applying direct heat (heating pad) which might lead to developmental issues. Most of the recommendations against exercise seem to have to do with avoiding ovarian torsion after a fresh cycle.

I think it's all about regret management. Don't do anything that you might convince yourself was an issue if the cycle fails. DD was the result of my 5th transfer, at which point I totally had given up and was just doing a final cycle to satisfy DH before moving on to other options. I was lifting fairly heavy weights the day after my transfer. DD is now almost 2.5 y.o. and perfect.

To the pp, thanks for the previous information. I was wondering about the science behind all this. I also cut out alcohol, caffeine (since starting stims) but posts on other forums seem to think bother are ok during the 2WW. I'd be interested to hear what others' REs said about this.

5:23 again. My instructions specifically said no caffeine in 2ww (after FET).

OP here. Thanks for sharing, ladies. It sounds like we all get different and varied advice. For me the hardest part to control is transportation as I live in the developing world with cobblestone streets, tuk tuk moto taxis, and chicken buses on mountain roads. Plus I had the crazy ambulance ride yesterday. It's like Disney's Mister Toad's Wild Ride 24-7, and there is no other choice for me to get from point a to point b. If I had it to do again, I would have taken these 2 weeks off from everything. Thanks for the no regrets advice 18:26. I'm gonna officially let that be my guide from here until beta and hopefully a delivery!

I've never been told no caffeine. I've cut it out in previous cycles, but I figure why deprive myself when I'm already dealing with all this? I try to stick with the <200 mg/day recommendation for pregnant ladies. No booze, though.

All. Are any of you using a HPT earlier than two weeks? One of the blogs from a fertility center (I forget which) recommended testing earlier so you'd at least know if you got a chemical. I wondered if there is any logic to this. Or if it's just my total lack of patience during the 2WW!

Oh it's totally lack of patience on my part. SG makes you wait till 13dp5dt, which is super long. I'm sure they're trying to avoid catching chemicals, but people are going to find out at home anyway. I've never had a CP, but I think I would rather know than not. It's one more piece of data.

I usually start testing at home 9 days after transfer. So far all BFN but I'll be back to POAS-ing on Friday. Ahhhhh! I should probably stop hanging out on this board so much until then...
