| Love my Miele - great for hardwoods, carpet and picking up pet hair. Also, light to carry upstairs and easy to move around. My friend laughed at me for spending so much on a vacuum, then bought the same one the next year and loves it too. |

We have a dyson animal... and we hate it. Heavy, prone to clogging, difficult to maneuver, and really really heavy. Did I mention how heavy?
So I finally got this one: http://www.amazon.com/Hoover-U5140-900-Widepath-Bagged-Upright/dp/B0009ONZ8G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1243518999&sr=8-1 It's great. Inexpensive, so I won't be sad when it dies. Goes under the bed and at least a few inches under the couch. Self-propels, which is silly, but I admit kinda fun. About half the weight of the dyson. The only downside is that it uses bags. But I had two bagless vacs before this, and I think this one is more effective. Oh, and this one got the best reviews from Consumer Reports, which is why we got it. |
| We have a Dyson (not the animal) and absolutely love it. The suction is amazing and I have never had a better vacuum. The only down side is that it is a little heavy and definitely expensive, but it is worth the $$$. |
| Any recommendations specifically for a small, lightweight stick that I can keep in the kitchen? thanks |
