| many years ago we had one at rocky gap convention center. it was during weekdays (3 days/2 nights if I remember correctly). how was it funded? i think we used program direction fund but not 100% sure. was it worth it? well, let me just say it was nice. |
| We tried but were told we couldn't do it during work hours (in case of accident or injury) and it couldn't be paid for our of program funds. |
| My boss from my previous office did it once. You need some creativity and a GPC (for small purchase). Ours was a mandate office "field trip" to a nearby park specializing in team building exercises and adventures. All were told just to show up. No detail before hand. |

I've done off-site events that included team-building type activities--but also strategic planning, etc. We've used the FWS facilities in West Virginia for it--they're really nice. I'm not sure how it was paid for, but I assume out of training funds.
We also do an annual picnic at Fort McNair--we pay for that by charging people and hiring a caterer. |
