What is the fastest way to finish a degree? The degree that takes the least amount of schooling upfront with a high pay off in salary and job openings?
Totally open to a two year program and later bachelors. |

If you hate the work your strategy is myopic.
What work do you love? |
IT field, MCP or Linux certification. |
no free lunch in life, bud. |
| AA to get your RN in nursing. RNs with a BS only make 10 cents more an hour than RNs with an AA. Salaries are very stable. |
| College isn't about increasing salary. It's about finding your life's work and it's also a maturing process. |
| Look I'm older and I need a degree to get a job. Being a homemaker in a really bad relationship for years prevented me from this. I don't have time to figure out what I love to do. I need to put dinner on the table and keep a roof on our heads without the help of anyone. I'm doing everything I can now but waitressing and cleaning homes isn't going to help my kids it my self in our future. |
| Look at certification programs and how much starting pay generally is for that area. |
| I'd visit the career councilor at your local community college. They should be able to help. |
do this. jobs in demand. you make pretty good money pretty quickly. |
| Home health care aides do ok, 6 months |
Check your privilege. |
My sister makes 90k a year as an RN. She works a 12 hour shift so she only works 3 days a week and is able to not have to pay childcare because of it. |
I am curious about this. I had heard that the AA degree in nursing is not as valuable and is being phased out and that employers really favor the BSN. Comments? |
It is being phased out, but they will be grandfathered in. The RN part is what matters, not the AA/BS in Nursing. They've been "phasing out" the AA for at least 20 years and it still hasn't happened. So many jobs. |
