the 2016 PARCC

Anonymous
School my kids attend started PARCC testing this week.

I'm glad to see there is less testing this year, and DCPS is promising faster results. Also glad our school is continuing field trips and trying to keep to as normal as schedule as possible.

Wasn't thrilled with the letter that came home from DCPS about wo great PARCC was. Still really not thrilled at elementary age kids asked to type mini essays on a keyboard.

My child does not test well, though has been proficient in the past (or whatever the terminology is).

Anyone have any PARCC stories to relate this year?

I think it is a non event and tests are useful for big picture trends.

My kids welcome the break in routine by this point in the school year.

My kids love it because it means no homework.

Are third graders typing, or does that start in later elementary?

They type - although a few LEAs were still administering on power last year. Everyone is going to computer though.

What schools start testing this week, thought it was next?

The grades 3-8 testing window is 3/28-5/2 this year.
