Waitlist number increased?

Anonymous
This has probably been answered, so sorry for the repeat, but how is it that my waitlist number increased? From 22 to 24?

Siblings enrolled (or post-lottery applications with preference)

Example:
Siblings A&B are waitlisted for K and PK3 at HRCS. Sibling B gets in off the waitlist, now sibling A now gets bumped up because she now has a sibling in the school. She is now at the back of the "w/sibling" waitlist pack, but ahead of all the other waitlisted kids.

Thank you-- OP

Post-lottery applications with preference? How is that?

Sure - new family moves IB to a school after lottery deadline.

For example, you move inbounds for a school after lottery application closes and apply for PK4. You then get placed ahead of everyone who has less of a preference than you (OoB w/sib, proximity, no preference). Those people see their #s go up.

Or a sibling of a current, enrolled student decides to apply post lottery (decided to leave private school or whatever). They'd leapfrog over anyone with less of a preference.
