Billy Joel concert seating question

Nats Stadium, Section 131, Row M seats are $130 each. "Platinum" seats are in Section 420, row A, $185 each. Doesn't make sense - the platinum seats are way way up, and more expensive that section 131! Can anyone explain how this is the case?

Probably sitting high would give the viewer a better angle of the stage.

Makes no sense. 131 is better. No reason to be first-row upper deck. And it's not like that's a club service level. Unless "platinum" means it comes with some kind of package, like meal and parking included? Why would they put that in the 400 level?

BTW we saw Springsteen there and decided a ballpark is a pretty s**ty place to see a concert. The entire infield is covered and barricaded, so if you're sitting anywhere in what would be good seats for baseball (first to third), you're looking over this barricaded no-man's-land to see the stage in center field a million miles away. You're basically watching the show on jumbotron.

Unless you can get floor/field seats or seats reasonably in the outfield, (not too far from the stage, but not too far to the side either), it's going to be a subpar experience.

Totally agree. We went last year and it was a waste of money. The acoustics blew and we could barely see anything. Don't do it.

so correct. I have seen 3 concerts in Nationals park.

performers setup in center field

Would NEVER see a show in upper decks. too far for sound

if you are between 3rd base and home plate, or home plate and first base, they setup lights and stuff on infield section, so you could get blocked.

131 M should be fine. I sat on other side all 3 times, 113 and 114, as close to field as possible.

We were 129 last row for Taylor Swift. It was decent.

I don't think it's unreasonable to assume there would be a premium for being further away from Billy Joel.

Nailed it.

OP, you may set up lawn chairs in my back yard in Bethesda for $450/seat.

This is my concern for the Guns n Roses concert at RFK. With all the presales, the only seats left when general sale started were crap.

Glad you have a sense of humor. I don't care for his music and went for the easy joke. Did you read the New Yorker article on Joel about a year ago? There was a scene where he, Elton John and Sting were discussing real estate. Would be a tough call if I was in that room with just two bullets.

Oh no! You're killing my playlist! I'm kidding, but I don't have a problem w/ Elton or Sting. Now if you start threatening Sir Tom Jones then we have a problem.
