| Bought it today for my 6 year old in my endless pursui to get her dry head to stop itching. I know actual tea tree oil is contraversial for kids but the shampoo is ok right? |
|
IDK, but my 10 yr old uses it, and I've used it 2x on my 7 yr old.
You can get non-tea tree oil shampoo that will help stop the itching, too. Anything that doesn't have sulfates. Try Aveeno sulfate free shampoo. I use this on my 7 yr old normally. |
I've tried Head and Shoulders, Tgel, and a few others with no luck - I'll look for the aveeno. Is that a kid one or just in the regular shampoo section? |
| Tea tree oil is controversial for children? What isn't controversial for kids?! Not disputing this but frustrated because I have used the oil for years on my kids' skin to clear up rashes, bumps, lice prevention, itchy scalp, etc because I always thought it was natural and thus better than otc chemical mixtures! |

It is a suspected endocrine disruptor. The concern is that it can mimic sex hormones in the body. "Natural" doesn't always equal "good" or "safe"!

regular. Also, I recently bought "Jason Kids Only Daily Detangling Shampoo" which is also sulfate free. I haven't tried this on DC yet. |
| Have you tried Aveda's Rosemary Mint shampoo? Rosemary is supposed to help with the scalp (works for me) and should be safer. |
| Crap. I've had my kids use tea tree oil shampoo for years. I had no idea it might be bad for them. Add that to the list of things I've screwed up as a parent. |
It helps prevent lice infestations so swe use it on a regular basis. So far no lice
