Tell me about Hoyer Montessori school

Anybody have inside info? We got in, but the scores are lower than the other Montessori schools. It is also 30 minutes away. I thought we were zoned to Goddard witch is 15 minutes away and has much better test scores.

I don't know anything about Hoyer, but I am glad you posted this. We are waitlisted 126 for Hoyer Montessori, but like you, we live only 10 minutes away from Goddard. I was very confused by this. Why was I only given a waitlist number for a farther school? When I applied, I am pretty sure I checked the boxes for all the montessori programs, thinking that would increase my chances. I did *not* know this would put the closest school out of possibility.

I know several families who go there and are very happy. The school has a very active PTA and the principal seems good. I think it is a newer and smaller school compared to Goddard. wouldn't put too much weight into differences in test scores in this case.

OP here. I just checked the school finder site and it shows the local schools and speciality schools by address. I own other properties and was shocked to see that they are closer to Hoyer, but zoned to Robert Goddard. Not sure how they decided who goes where.

Thanks! Our local school scores very high so we need to decide if driving 30 minutes for a half day is worth it. By the time we get home we'd have to turn back 1.5 hours later. I was a Montessori kid so I would love this for my child. What do the other familes do for 3 year olds?

The school board decided this years ago. It's based on the region's population. The Northern section of the county is more densely packed and those areas feed into Goddard. The middle sections feed into Hoyer and the southern portion feeds into a third which is less densely packed and thus larger geographically.
