Usually takes a few days. In the meantime get the DC health forms signed by your doctor and dentist, and your residency documents (see list of acceptable documents here) http://osse.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/osse/publication/attachments/2016-17%20DC%20Residency%20Verification%20Form.pdf.
