Op here hahaha. No for real. My 8th grader just asked me and I have no idea. Similar to base high school? More groups? No dating because they are too busy? DS just wonders what he might be getting into.

Pretty much the same as anywhere else. I have spent much time waiting in the carpool lane and I see lots of couples walking by holding hands or arm in arm, so I assume they're dating. Also, I know some friends of my kid whom my chains has mentioned are dating. They're normal teens, so of course they date.

They are allowed to date once they ace Pre-Calc and Trig. Kids doing Algebra or Geometry are not allowed to date.

You have to date a new partner every month.. Those are the strict rules starting this year. It is part of the new stress release programme..

DS is a freshman and dating, which basically means that he and his girlfriend text and email and occasionally have dates. The only unfortunate or atypical thing I can think of is that we live 30 minutes east of the school and she lives 30 minutes west; lots of meeting at Tysons or Fair Oaks mall for movies!

Went to JHU.

It was ranked 2nd worst undergrad for social life in the 1990s.

Would not surprise me if TJ shares some of JHU's attributes.

I enjoy and relate to the sitcom Big Bang Theory, fwiw.
