I am doing my first IUI cycle at Shady Grove with 2.5mg Femara. I went in for my first monitoring appointment today and had only one follicle at about 10mm with " still thin lining." The doctor who did the ultrasound (not my RE) acted like she was delivering bad news but didn't really elaborate in response to my questions.
Is this a bad/abnormal reaction to the meds? Is there anything I should ask the doctor to do to maximize the chance of this cycle working out? Thanks in advance. |

For IVF, I've read that you lining should be between 7-8mm and follicles between 18 and 20mm before they trigger. But I don't know if ANY of this applies to IUIs

It's the same for IUI. Just hang on until you get your doctor's orders...it's still early since it's your first monitoring appt. She may up your meds. If this cycle doesn't work, she may try different meds next time.
Just to relate, I just finished an IUI cycle that was lousy (my first for this child)...my follicles responded very slowly. BUT, after a couple weeks they finally had a follicle large enough for an IUI and I just found out I'm pregnant. So, it may take a while to get the follicles up to size, but it doesn't mean you'll necessarily have a bad result. Try not to stress and await your doctor's orders. |
