Raw data lottery question

Anonymous
I'm looking at the raw data file from the lottery and I was wondering if anyone knew if kids that have sibling preference or automatic admission to TAG middle school are represented in that data.
So are the first 30 kids listed at Kenmoor Middle School the ones that automatically get in from the Elementary School magnets? Or is that data not captured?

I don't think those names are in the lottery. The lottery is for kids who want to fill remaining seats after those kids commit. Last year my child was #10 on the wait list for a middle school TAG program and moved up to #6. Never got in.

Are the number of spaces available posted?

Not officially. I've spoken to some folks at Kenmoor and they have ~90 kids per grade and about 60 of them come from the TAG Elementary Magnets. Right now there is 97 applications for 6th grade. I'm just curious how far down the list they get. There are a group of parents who are starting to lobby for guaranteed placement of TAG identified kids at TAG middle schools in order to stem the brain drain from the local elementary schools that happens in 2nd grade.

According to the enrollment information for SY 2015-2016 the K class at Dora Kennedy was 100 students.

Unless you know the number of sibling admits for K, this is hard to guess.

Yes, the 100 number is total K students. I have no idea how many slots would be sibling preference but I would guess less than 30%

Our number is less than 70 so we are hopefully but have yet to receive any notification. So we are patiently waiting

Sorry to keep bringing this up but I am so confused by this lottery process. Hoping to get clarification here before contacting PGCPS. I understand it's currently the raw data and does not reflect placement/acceptances. Why don't all the waiting numbers begin at 1? For example at pullen waiting number begins at I believe 185, Dora Kennedy at 40,Ceasar Chavez at around 8 etc. I thought I sort of understood everything but seeing that really confused me. At first I was thinking sibling preference but not at 185.

I was confused about the same thing. Last year, on the Raw Data List, all of the numbers started at 1, but this year it is different. If you end up calling, please let us know what PGCPS says.

Thanks!

I think you misread the table. I see Pullen K waiting list starting at 25. You might not have scrolled up/down enough. (it is confusing).
I assumed it is sibling preference but I can't say that for certain.

I think sibling preference because it doesn't happen in cases where sibling preference doesn't apply. i.e. for non-entry years in TAG ES magnets.

I would guess they are not included - MAFI starts at 22, and I am relatively certain those first 21 slots are for sibling preference.
