If so, how bad was his/her astigmatism? When were they diagnosed and when did they outgrow it? My 2 year old was just diagnosed and I'm having a hard time with it. The doctor says he should wear the glasses a few hours a day of possible to correct it. I thought you can't outgrow it, but then I found this article:
http://www.iscreenvision.com/faqs/astigmatism/ Scroll down to see that many outgrow it. 23% of younger children have it but the percentage declines to 9% when children are 5-6 years old. |
Mine did. Too long ago to answer your questions. My son was diagnosed before age 4 while he was in foster care. When he took his eye exam for a drivers license last year, his vision was fine.
Thanks. Does he wear glasses at all now?
Hi, I know it’s an old post but I’d really like to know if your Child outgrew astigmatism. Because my 15 months old has a vision screening test yesterday and we were told he might have it and we’d get it confirmed in his 18 months old appointment. Thanks I’m advance!
Have the child wear glasses as directed, please, as that could make the difference between not needing glasses later vs permanent vision impairment. If you need a 2nd opinion, use a PEDIATRIC ophthalmologist.
