Newborn photographer who doesn't charge over $1K ?

Anonymous
Hello,

We are looking for a reasonably priced, yet very good, photographer for our newborn due in May.
We were hoping to pay well under $1K.
Does this person exist in the NoVa area?
If so, may we have their contact info/website?

Thanks!

Anyone who does this professionally is going to charge over $1000 when all is said and done. It's their craft/art/talent/time that goes into it and if they don't charge enough to make a living they are just a person with a camera. Most professionals charge $250-400 for the shoot and then additional for images- either print or digitals.

I'm sure you can find people that charge less, but you will also "get" less. Cameras, filters, lenses, lighting, time, props all cost. Working with a newborn is especially hard from a photography point of view. If you want the fake Pinterest version, well, go for it. But, quality takes time and resources

I was JUST about to post this after checking out all the recs from the other post. We loved our newborn photographer from DD1 but she is no longer in the area. She was about $400 and I had full access of all the prints. Was really surprised to see the pricing of others!

I'll be following!

We used Stacy at Labor of Love. In 2013 we paid $500 for a two hour shoot which included digital copies of ALL prints. She was fantastic and DW and I felt completely comfortable with her, even as first time parents. Loved how our images turned out, and we returned to get for DS's 1 year photos/family photos. We had referred a couple people to her so she even knocked off like $25 for each referral.

PP is right - other photographers will charge separately for digital images which adds up. We ended up with nearly 100 images - all included in her fee.

Find an amateur trying to build their portfolio ... they are about half the price and take great shots if you find a good one.

Try Elizabeth Chomas Photography. You can find her on Facebook. She's amazing and doesn't chaege ridiculous fees. She's in MoCo, but will travel.

Fully agreed. Anyone charging less than $2,000 is a crook

Bullshit. Anyone paying $2k is a fool. There are plenty of good photographers that will charge $500-$1000.
