Louisville

We are going to be spending a day in Louisville next month with the grandparents (DS is 2 years old). The zoo looks like a good activity - anything else recommended for the kids? It looks like there is a Science Center, but I don't know if DS is old enough to get much out of it. Any recommendations of places to stay (neighborhoods or specific hotels)? TIA!
