Woo Hoo! Just found out my mom and dad can watch our elementary aged kids so we're "off" from Friday afternoon the 8th through Sunday afternoon the 10th. Flights are non-starters. We spend plenty of time in NY, so not interested in that. Suggestions for best spots within about 2.5 hours of DC? Charlottesville, Faquier, Annapolis, St. Michael's, Baltimore ... ? DC might be an option too.
Seeking luxurious accommodations, a nice dinner or two, time outside (walking? horseback riding? sailing?), and lovely, un-rushed time between the sheets.
For a hotel, would want to keep it under $550 or so a night. Thanks! SOOOO excited! |
Salamander Resort? Easy drive to Middleburg. Spa is lovely as are the grounds. Middleburg is close by if you want a small town stroll. You can eat at one of the restaurants at the property or go into town.
Cabin (not the main building) at The Iris Inn near Charlottesville.
Love Salamander!!
Omni Bedford springs resort
Antrim 1844 in Taneytown, MD. Beautiful grounds, great restaurant, can tour Gettyysburgh one day (take the horseback riding tour).
Second the Iris Inn suggestion. Amazing cabins with your own private hot tub, great breakfast prepared at the Inn and the little town of Staunton is cute to walk around in.
L'Auberge Provencale.
Keswick Hall if its not too expensive.
Inn at Little Washington
Staunton also has the American Shakespeare Theater and the performances are AMAZING! Great thing to do on a getaway without the kids. |
